TWU Theatre presents ‘Cabaret’

March 19, 2019 —DENTON— The Texas Woman’s University Theatre Program will conclude its 2018-2019 season with the Tony Award-winning musical Cabaret, written by Joe Masteroff, John Kander and Fred Ebb.

Performance times are:

• 8 p.m. Thursday, April 4;
• 8 p.m. Friday, April 5;
• 8 p.m. Saturday, April. 6;
• 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7;
• 8 p.m. Thursday, April 11;
• 8 p.m. Friday, April 12; and
• 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13.

All performances will take place in the Redbud Theater Complex, on the north side of Hubbard Hall on TWU’s Denton campus. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Cabaret takes place at the Kit Kat Klub in 1931 Berlin. The seedy establishment boasts musical talents and sordid affairs all set amidst the “end of the world” during the Nazis rise to power. Assistant professor of theatre Noah Lelek, Ph.D., will direct.

The cast of Cabaret features undergraduate theatre students Walker Delk, Bryce Neel, Claire Parry, Damon Wadyko, Felix Ferris, Lauren Jordan, Alexuss Song, Stephanie Jasper, Michael Diaz, Alicia Dailey (dance captain), Cari Ferguson, Grant Tidwell, Hannah Fuller and Alandra Baptiste, as well as University of North Texas students Carissa Walker and Andrew Brown.

Assistant professor of dance Ilana Morgan, Ph.D., will serve as choreographer, Ray Staniszewski as music director, Makana Jimbu as accompanist and Melissa Hall as vocal coach. Graduate students Lindsay Hayward and Ava Grimm will serve as dramaturg and costume designer, respectively, with undergraduate Sarah Updegrove as costume assistant. Undergraduate students Long Ho and Patrick Bohmier are sound designer and mix artist. Lighting design will be provided by guest designer, Amy Poe. Undergraduates Hope Warner and Mia Leavell will serve as makeup and hair designers, and Zareen Afzaal will serve as prop supervisor. The production will also feature undergraduate students Kendalynn Clemons as stage manager and Alexa Page and Belinda King as assistant stage managers.
