Women Veteran's Symposium

June 21, 2018 – Houston – As part of a multi-event, inaugural celebration for Women Veterans Day, Texas Woman’s University and Give An Hour will host “Because She Served: Women Veterans Community Symposium” Thursday, June 21, from 4 – 8 pm, at the TWU campus, 6700 Fannin, in the Texas Medical Center.

  • From Military Pride to Shameful Anguish, a study on military sexual trauma research by Wyona Freysteinson, Ph.D., MN, Associate Professor at TWU, and Tana Plescher US Navy Veteran and Outreach Coordinator for Grace After Fire.
  • The Experience of Women Veterans Seeking Healthcare, a look at seeking healthcare from the point of view of women veterans from all military branches and many eras of service to better understand their needs and challenges, by Ph.D. candidate Kimberly S. Landrum, MS.

The event is open to the public and free parking is available to those who register. If you are unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed.
