TWU Theatre presents a comedy about the end of the world

March 28, 2018 – DENTON – The Texas Woman’s University Theatre Program concludes its 2017-2018 theatre season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder. TWU Theatre program director Patrick Bynane, Ph.D., will direct. The production runs April 18-22, 2018.

Performance times are:

• 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 18;
• 4 p.m. Thursday, April 19;
• 8 p.m. Friday, April 20;
• 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21; and
• 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22.

All performances will take place in the Redbud Theater Complex, located on the north side of Hubbard Hall on TWU’s Denton campus. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Wilder’s ambitious and topsy-turvy comedy about the end of the world and the people who survive to live another day follows the lives of the Antrobus family. George and Martha Antrobus must find a way to survive the ice age, killer glaciers, the great flood, hurricanes, war, their two bickering children and one highly reluctant maid all while they seek to keep hope alive for the human race: in other words, just another average day for your average American. Packed with enough literary references to fill a library and inspired by the spirit of the great screwball comedies of the 1930’s, Wilder’s play is as timely now as when it debuted in 1943.

The cast of The Skin of Our Teeth features undergraduate theatre students Tyler Shults, Claire Parry, Eric Molina, Katherine Hogan, Lauren Jordan, Rachel Theisen, Alexis-Marie Garay, Felix Ferris, Damon Wadyko, Stephanie Jasper, Alandra Baptiste and Alicia Dailey as well as guest actor, Blair Mitchell.

Russell McKinley is technical director and guest artist Jon Felt returns as lighting designer. Undergraduate students Patrick Bohmier and Long Ho are sound designers. Associate professor Rhonda Gorman is both set and costume designer, with graduate student Jason Domm as props artisan. Undergraduate student LeeAnn Ducker will stage manage with undergraduates Michael Diaz and Ciara Armstrong serving as assistant stage managers.
