Lerner recognized for work with transfer students

Barbara Lerner, Ph.D., vice provost for undergraduate studies and academic partnerships at Texas Woman’s University, has been named a Catalyst Award Winner by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students. The award recognizes professionals who are game-changers in the transfer field and have made a significant impact at the institutional, regional and/or state level.

She received the award during the organization’s 16^th annual conference, held Feb. 7-9 in Atlanta.

“This award recognizes not only my work, but the work of Texas Woman’s University in supporting the success of transfer students,” Lerner said.

Lerner, who also is an associate professor of special education and served as interim vice president for enrollment services in 2016-2017, has been with TWU almost 23 years.

“In today’s world, it’s essential that higher education institutions allow students to transfer easily, and also recognize the work of students who may have accumulated course work over several years and are completing their degrees,” she said. “Texas Woman’s ability to work at the state level allows us to have an impact on public policy and practices that can benefit students for years to come.”
