As a young man from the Rio Grande Valley, Jonathan Arias dreams of helping the people in his community.

His parents dreamed he would be a doctor, but he learned he could help patients more by filling a prescription through physical therapy rather than just doing the prescribing.

Lindsay Oar (MS ‘17) discovered the perfect way to merge her two passions — sports and nutrition — with an Exercise and Sports Nutrition degree from Texas Woman’s that led to a position as assistant sports dietitian (RDN) for the Texas Rangers professional baseball organization.

TWU teachers-in-training to attend NASA summer institute

Texas Woman’s University has been selected to send a team of four pre-service teachers along with a faculty sponsor to the 2018 NASA Minority University Research and Education Project’s (MUREP) Educator Institute at Johnson Space Center in Houston. The five-day on-site experience takes place June 4-8 and will feature student-centered classroom activities that use NASA assets and resources to help educators develop practices that will engage students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Sponsored by Texas Woman’s University’s Center for Women in Business, the one-day event will help area professionals explore how they could begin to identify the personal and organizational values that drive them as a leader to carry out their organization’s vision and their role in operationalizing culture-building and team support.
