April 14, 2020 — DENTON — The Texas Woman’s University Department of Dance is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by presenting its first virtual dance concert, “1200 Seconds.” The online event will feature 20 60-second dance solos in a digital video streaming format on Facebook Watch and Instagram TV Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m.

“1200 Seconds” will showcase students addressing and expressing the unique challenges of life under lockdown by choreographing in their living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, garages and backyards. They will use the limitations of social distancing and stay-at-home orders to inspire new and creative possibilities in dance.

Judged by two faculty members, one graduate student representative, and one undergraduate student representative, the concert is produced under the direction of faculty producers Sarah Gamblin and Reyna Mondragon.

In lieu of tickets, the department encourages viewers to consider making a gift in support of the TWU Dance Scholarship Fund. For more information about the event, contact Martheya Nygaard at 972-322-9067 or dance@twu.edu
