Having studied piano all her life, including her years attending college at BYU Idaho and UNT, Mrs. Joyner ran a successful piano studio in her home for 17 years while raising her five children. In 2018, while working as an intern in Prosper ISD and as a graduate student at TWU, Mrs. Joyner was awarded Intern of the Year from TWU. In 2019, Natalie graduated with her Master's in Music Education from Texas Woman's University where she published a two year case study on music and dyslexia. She was able to present her research in San Antonio at the TMEA convention for music educators. For the past seven years, Mrs. Joyner ran a large and successful middle school choir program in Prosper, TX, where she was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2024. Her choirs consistently earned the highest ratings at UIL, while also receiving Best in Class, Best in Show, and Superior ratings in contests and festivals throughout North Texas. During her time teaching middle school, she also co-directed the 5th grade honor choir for the district. In addition to her success in public school, Mrs. Joyner was invited to create a community youth choir in North Texas to perform with grammy nominated violinist, Jenny Oaks Baker. The choir, entitled the Shawnee Trail Youth Singers, was directed by Mrs. Joyner in the show “Joy to the World” at the Eisemann Center with Jenny Oaks Baker and soprano, Alex Sharpe. Mrs. Joyner is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and is excited to be back at Texas Woman’s University to help prepare future music educators for success in the classroom.
