Profile
Dr. Meenha Kim is an accomplished pianist with over a decade of experience in performance, teaching, and respected collaborative work.
Her journey as a professional musician began at Sejong University in South Korea, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music under Professor Kichoung Lee. She then continued her education at the University of North Texas, completing a Master of Music (M.M.) and a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Piano Performance under Professor Adam Wodnicki. Her doctoral studies were enriched by her exploration of music theory, delving into Schenkerian analysis with Dr. Timothy Jackson. Dr. Kim’s dissertation, “The Influence of Adolf von Henselt on Sergei Rachmaninoff: A Comparative Analysis of Henselt’s Piano Concerto Op. 16 and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto Op. 18,” showcases her profound analytical insight.
Kim’s career highlights include solo performances with prestigious orchestras such as the Seoul Symphony Orchestra, the Sejong University Orchestra, and the Black Sea Festival Orchestra in Romania. She has also graced renowned stages, including a piano duo recital at Carnegie Weill
Recital Hall in New York, and numerous performances in South Korea and Texas. Her artistry has been recognized with several awards, including prizes from the Paderewski International Piano Competition in Hartford and the Korean Piano Society Competition.
Dr. Meenha Kim continues to inspire audiences and students with her passion for music and dynamic performances. Currently, she serves as a pianist for the Musical Theatre program at Texas Woman’s University, sharing her enthusiasm for music with students and colleagues.
