Profile

Dr. Marissa Stanfill serves as Recruitment and Retention Ambassador for the Division of Music at Texas Woman’s University. She supports prospective and current music students by strengthening pathways into the program and fostering student success.

With a passion for community building and engaging new audiences through music, Stanfill has supported programs through event planning and community engagement initiatives. During her time at the Plano Symphony Orchestra, she led several education programs including the orchestra’s Summer Orchestra Camp, School Concert Program and Family Concert Series.

A versatile clarinetist and educator, Stanfill has taught applied clarinet and music courses at the University of South Alabama, Florida State University, Baylor University and Troy University. Having appeared on international, national and regional stages, she has presented master classes at Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Troy University Clarinet Day and Magic City Clarinet Festival, in addition to many K-12 clinics presented at middle and high schools throughout the United States. As an active performer and researcher, Stanfill has performed and presented her research on the clarinet music of Carl Vollrath at the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest® in Knoxville, TN, and Dublin, Ireland.

Stanfill earned her Doctor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance at Florida State University, Master of Music Performance degree at Baylor University, and Bachelor of Music Education degree at Troy University. Outside of TWU, she continues to perform and teach privately and competes in the World Axe Throwing League – all while doting on her corgi, Rosie Willow.
