Kimberly Watson

Kimberly Watson’s voice has been reviewed by Theater Jones as being “lovely and bright.” Her impressive versatility has granted her great pleasure of being featured as a soloist with many ensembles in the DFW area. During her time at The University of North Texas, Kimberly has participated in many of UNT’s prestigious choral groups including the A Cappella ensemble,The Collegium Singers , and Grand Chorus headed by renowned conductors Dr. Richard Sparks, Dr. Allen Hightower and Maestro David Itkin.  As a Soprano soloist in Collegium’s performance of J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion, Dallas News acclaimed her as being “stylishly suited to Bach and Handel”. Her presentation as a soprano soloist in Dietricht Butehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri received great acclaim.  In the summer of 2019 she performed with the group in Boston for the Boston Early Music Festival. This past spring she was a featured soloist in the University Singers performance of Lili Boulanger’s Soir sur la plaine

Some of Ms. Watson’s other proud accomplishments include her many song recitals. She has performed recitals through UNT,  East Carolina University where she received her BM, the Pittsburgh Children’s Mendelssohn Concert Series, and a church concert series tour in the Basque region of northern Spain. She also recently was awarded a travel grant as a result of her individual contributions to the College of Music at UNT.

In 2018 she made her Meyerson debut singing the Flower Duet from Lakmé, and performed as the soprano soloist  in Handel’s Messiah with multiple organizations in the DFW area including Fort Worth Symphony . In 2017, she made her Winspear Opera House debut as Manuelitá in Offenbach’s Pépito. She has had the pleasure of performing many opera roles, some of which include Abigail Borden in Beeson’s Lizzie Borden, Kathleen in Ralph Vaughan Williams Riders to the Sea, The Woman in Rorem’s Two Dialogues, and IIia in Mozart’s Idomeneo. During her time at UNT Opera, Kimberly has performed as Angel More in Mother of Us All, Valletto in the premier of the original Venis score of L'incoronazione di Poppea, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mrs. Nordstrom from A Little Night Music, Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Rose from Kurt Weil’s Street Scene.  Kimberly is the proud recipient of the Donizetti award as a participant in the Orpheus Vocal Competition. Ms.Watson received her MM from UNT  where she is a Doctoral candidate in pursuit of a DMA She was  also selected by the Division of Vocal Studies for a Teaching Fellowship for voice. Ms. Watson has had the incredible honor of working with Dr. Jami Rhodes, Professor William Joyner and eagerly continues her studies with the distinguished Dr. Carol Wilson. 

Ms. Watson also holds a position at the University of Texas- Arlington as an Adjunct Professor of Voice for their BFA Program in Musical Theater.
