Profile

Joan Wall, Professor Emerita, is the former coordinator of vocal studies at Texas Woman’s University. She was appointed Professor Emerita in 2008 following a teaching career of 44 years at TWU.

Professional Background

A mezzo-soprano, she sang operatically as principal performer at the Metropolitan Opera Company of New York, and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and in Amsterdam, Boston, Philadelphia, Fort Worth and other US cities. Her roles included Carmen, Suzuki, Cenerentola, Rosina, Dorabella, Cherubino, Siebel, and Augusta in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Preziosilla in La Forza del Destino, Nicklaus in The Tales of Hoffmann, Fyodor in Boris Godonov, and others. Miss Wall appeared under the direction of Jean Morel, Dimitri Mitropoulous, Boris Goldvosky, Paul Hindemith, Rudolf Kruger, John Giordano, and others. She has concertized in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
