Profile

James Hobbs, DMA, has been instructor of oboe at Texas Woman’s University since 2002. His publications include "Marcello's Concerto in D Minor for Oboe, Strings and Basso Continuo: A View of Its Origin and Use in J. S. Bach's Concerto III for Solo Harpsichord, BWV 974," published in The Journal of the International Double Reed Society, and "Six Sonates pour une Flute et Basse ou Hautbois et Basse" by Ernst Eichner: A Performing Edition with Critical Commentary, published in University Microfilmes International. Hobbs was awarded the first ever Bill Taylor Memorial Award for outstanding musicianship at Northeast Louisiana University and graduated Cum Laude. He currently maintains a busy teaching schedule as well as performing in numerous professional groups including the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra.
