Elizabeth Hale Knox

Elizabeth Hale Knox, mezzo-soprano, has performed as a soloist with the Chattanooga Opera, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Bach Festival, the Evansville Symphony Orchestra and the Lafayette Bach Chorale Singers. In the Chicago area, she has appeared with Chamber Opera of Chicago, Lincoln Opera, DuPage Opera Theatre, the Tower Chorale, the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, the Lake Forest Symphony Orchestra, and on the Sounds of the South Loop Recital Series. She has also performed at the Aspen Music Festival and Blossom Music Festival.

Ms. Knox has been a full-time professional member of the Chicago Lyric Opera Chorus, the Grant Park Symphony Chorus and Music of the Baroque, one of the leading ensembles in the country devoted to the performance of eighteenth-century works. She has sung with the Orpheus Chamber Singers, an acclaimed vocal ensemble out of Dallas. She has also appeared on PBS on the Emmy-nominated program, A Renaissance Christmas.

Ms. Knox currently is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Austin College. She has held teaching positions at Illinois Benedictine University, The Chicago Academy for the Arts, and The American Conservatory.
Ms. Knox is an accomplished church and synagogue soloist, having served in numerous denominations. She is an adept pianist, having studied the piano for fourteen years.

Ms. Knox received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in vocal performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Graduating with Distinction in both degrees. She also has a Certificate from the University of Chicago for completing their Basic Program of Liberal Education. Ms. Knox is a member of the The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), and The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has served as a board member on the Chicago Chapter of NATS and has been president of the Chicago Singing Teachers Guild.
