Danielle Woolery, DMA, is Coordinator of Instrumental Studies, Associate Professor of Music, and Student Coordinator for the Music Division at Texas Woman’s University where she teaches clarinet and courses in music pedagogy and education. Originally from North Newton, Kansas, Woolery received the Doctor or Musical Arts degree from the University of Miami, the Master of Music degree from Webster University, and holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas. Her research interests include clarinet pedagogy for music educators, the commissioning and performing of new works for clarinet quartet, and pre-service educator preparation.

An active performer, clinician, and presenter, Woolery’s work has been disseminated through a variety of formats at the international, national, regional, and state levels. She has performed in seven countries and is a founding member of MiamiClarinet, which has commissioned over a dozen new works and is in the editing process of their first recording project featuring compositions by women composers. She loves collaborating with friends and colleagues and regularly performs in settings ranging from chamber groups, orchestral ensembles, pit work, and big band. She has performed and/or presented on topics that align with her research interests at state music educator conferences and several events sponsored by organizations including the National Association for Music Education, College Music Society, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, Chamber Music America, Sigma Alpha Iota, and the International Clarinet Association.

At Texas Woman’s University, Woolery is a proud recipient of an Innovation in Academia Award (2024), Mary Mason Lyon Award for Distinguished Junior Faculty (2020), and a Distinction in Teaching Award (2018). She was selected as part of the inaugural cohort for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Leadership Development Program, as a Modern Band Higher Education Fellow sponsored through Music Will, and has been inducted into the Newton High School Fine Arts Hall of Fame. Her research has been recognized by the International Clarinet Association by winning first place in their Research Competitions in Ostend, Belgium (2018) and Assisi, Italy (2013).

Woolery currently serves as Past-President of the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, Co-Chair of the International Clarinet Association’s Youth Involvement Committee, a member of the editorial review board for the NACWPI Journal, a member of the Lecture Recital and Performance Committee for the 2025 College Music Society South Central Conference, and as President of the Denton Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota.
