Profile
Christa Heimann graduated from Missouri State University in 2015 with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. In 2014, she was a winner of the university concerto competition where she performed the Dubois Saxophone Concerto with the Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra. Upon graduating, she held a large studio of middle and high school students in the Springfield area.
In 2017, Christa began her Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of North Texas (UNT) where she was an active performer and section manager of the renowned North Texas Wind Symphony. During the fall of 2019, Christa began her doctor of musical arts degree in saxophone performance at UNT. From 2019-2022, she was a teaching fellow in the saxophone studio where she taught private lessons and coached saxophone quartets. In the spring of 2022, she received the Faculty Senate’s Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award. In addition to teaching at UNT, Christa held teaching positions at Tarrant County College and Missouri State University.
As an active performer and educator, Christa has performed at conferences and competitions around the United States. In the spring of 2019, she made her Carnegie Hall debut. She has been invited as a guest artist to perform at local community colleges and universities throughout the Midwest and Southern regions of the United States. Christa was recently invited to perform and give a masterclass on extended techniques for the saxophone studio at the University of Texas-Arlington where she performed the unaccompanied solo soprano saxophone work Ku Ku by Barry Cockcroft. Her recording of this work is featured on the composer’s website.
Christa is a doctoral candidate at UNT and is expected to graduate fall 2023. She is currently the Coordinator of Budgets and Finance for the School of the Arts and Design at Texas Woman’s University.
