Profile
Chie Soliz-Watanabe made her Carnegie Hall debut as an Artists International prizewinner in 2006 and has performed at many other venues in New York, Colorado, California, Texas, Spain and Japan. She has won numerous awards and prizes including the Roy M. Rubinstein Award, the UNT Outstanding Graduate in Piano Award, the TCU Concerto Competition, the Fort Collins Symphony Competition, the Wideman International Piano Competition, and the Virginia Warning International Piano Competition.
As an active collaborative musician, Dr. Soliz-Watanabe won the Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition in New York. In 2011, she was selected by renowned composer Jake Heggie to give the public premier of his new song cycle A Question of Light at the Dallas Museum of Art under the auspices of Dallas Opera. She has worked as a collaborative pianist for many competitions and festivals such as MTNA, the Myrna W. Brown Artist Competition, the Donna Marie Haire Young Artist Competition in Texas Flute Society Festival, the Bradetich International Double Bass Solo Competition and International Horn Symposium.
Chie Soliz-Watanabe earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas studying with Professor Gustavo Romero. She achieved a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music under Dr. Solomon Mikowsky. She accomplished an Artist Diploma from Texas Christian University under Dr. Tamas Ungar and professor Harold Martina, and a Bachelor of Music from Tokyo College of Music under Takashi Hironaka.
