Mission Statement

The mission of the Governmental Relations Department at Texas Woman’s University is to serve the university community by establishing, expanding and maintaining relationships with elected officials to advance public policy goals and support the mission of TWU.

Vice Chancellor for Government Relations

Kevin is an attorney with extensive experience in legislative policy and public affairs. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the Honors College at Texas Tech University in 1999 and his law degree from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 2006.

Kevin has worked in the legislative environment since 2007. He served as General Counsel to Representative Jim Murphy during the 2007 legislative session and served as Chief of Staff and General Counsel to Representative Myra Crownover from 2008 to 2014. He has extensive policy experience in the energy, environment, and higher education sectors, and has six years of experience working on the Texas budget.

Kevin grew up in Austin, Texas, where he resides with his wife, Brennan, and their two boys.

Suzann Woodard

Director of Government Relations

Suzann Woodard is the Director of Government Relations at Texas Woman’s University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas Tech University.

Suzann has extensive experience in legislative affairs, advocacy, and public service. She began her career working for State Senator John T. Montford and later at the Texas Capitol. She has held government relations roles with the Texas Pharmacy Association and the Texas Hospital Association, where she managed political action committee fundraising and legislative engagement.

She returned to state government in 2018, serving as District Director and Campaign Manager for State Representative Lynn Stucky. She later served as Chief Advancement Officer at the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas and as Associate Director of the Center for Women in Government at the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership, where she supported programs and initiatives preparing women for public service and leadership roles across Texas.

Suzann grew up in Austin, Texas, and lives in Argyle with her husband Glenn and their two sons.
