Valerie Segovia, EdD, VP Investor Relations, Texas Economic Development Corp.
Dr. Valerie G. Segovia currently serves as the Vice President of Investor Relations of the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TxEDC). TxEDC is an independently funded and operated 501 (c) (3) organization that strategically partners and markets Texas both domestically and internationally as a premier business destination for companies looking to locate, relocate and/or expand their existing business footprint.
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Segovia is a distinguished leader known for her transformative 15-year tenure at the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Nuclear Power Institute (NPI). At NPI, she held key roles, including Director, Associate Director, and Director of Outreach and Development. She established impactful workforce programs and built enduring relationships at the state, federal, and international levels. Her leadership extended to Palacios Marine & Industrial (PMI) as Senior Corporate Spokesperson, showcasing her broad expertise in the energy and industrial sectors.
Dr. Segovia recently chaired Governor Greg Abbott’s Texas Advanced Nuclear Working Group (TANWG) subcommittees on energy education and workforce development, reinforcing her commitment to advancing energy systems education and skilled trade readiness.
As a respected global voice, Dr. Segovia participated in many working meetings, acted as a national expert consultant, presented as a keynote speaker, created outreach projects, and chaired conference sessions for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria, Argonne National Laboratory, and for numerous Member State countries in the Asia Pacific and the Clean Energy Education & Empowerment (C3E) Initiative at the Texas A&M University in Washington D.C., location. She has presented for the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) in Amman, Jordan, Infrastructure Development Working Group (IDWG) for the United States in Rome, Italy, Paris, France, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), Women in Nuclear (WIN), American Nuclear Society (ANS), Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Texas P-16 Board, and Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP), along with other events to speak on educational and women’s issues, motivation, and innovative programming.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Segovia is an entrepreneur, business owner, children’s book author, content creator, former podcast host, wife, mother, and "Bubbie". She holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, two master’s degrees in counseling and administration and supervision, and a doctorate in educational leadership.
