Jill Dutton, former Texas State Representative

Jill Dutton is a former Texas State Representative elected in a 2024 special election to serve House District 2, which includes Hopkins, Hunt, and Van Zandt counties. She served on the House Defense & Veterans Affairs and County Affairs Committees and made history as the first woman elected to represent the district. During her tenure, she secured $25 million in short-line rail funding in the 2025 state budget, benefiting Northeast Texas.

A Republican activist for over 25 years, Dutton has served as a precinct chair, Secretary of the Van Zandt County Republican Executive Committee, delegate to multiple state conventions, and Chair of the Congressional District 5 Caucus. In 2021, she founded the Republican Women of Van Zandt.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Texas at Tyler, graduating summa cum laude. Now retired, she previously co-founded CA Partners, Inc., a commercial construction consulting firm, and served as its Director of Administration.

Dutton and her husband, David, have three adult children and three grandchildren. Her family has deep roots in Van Zandt County, and she is the great-granddaughter of Lebanese immigrants who settled in Greenville, Texas.
