Christina McKinney, Executive Director, Governor's Commission for Women
Christina McKinney, executive director of the Governor’s Commission for Women, is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic and implementation plans supporting the priorities outlined in the Governor’s executive order authorizing the Commission.
Having previously worked in the healthcare field with a focus on building relationships and helping patients and families navigate complex support systems, Christina puts those same people skills to work coordinating the efforts of the Commission and promoting opportunities for Texas women through outreach, education, research and referral services.
Members of the Commission for Women are appointed by the Governor and are recognized community and business leaders who represent each region of the state and contribute perspectives from diverse backgrounds and industries. The State Agency Council, with representatives from all state agencies, also helps to support Commission activities.
An Austin native, Christina earned her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in social work from Texas State University.
