Fulbright Faculty & Staff Programs

TWU faculty and staff may engage in a variety of Fulbright programs. To assist in narrowing down your interest for one of the possible Fulbright programs, please share your initial thoughts and begin a conversation with a TWU Fulbright Liaison.

Fulbright Scholar

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program for college and university faculty, administrators, and researchers, as well as artists and professionals—enables 800 U.S. Scholars to go abroad and 900 visiting scholars to come to the United States. These Fulbright Scholars make meaningful contributions to communities abroad and at home within their respective fields, while advancing careers across the globe.

Within the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, there are different types of awards that TWU faculty and academic staff may consider:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offerings and Getting Started page
  2. Schedule a meeting with TWU’s Fulbright Program Liaison, Dr. Richard Shuster to discuss the program, potential international host institutions, and timelines
  3. Share your plans with your direct supervisor to discuss logistics of covering your responsibilities if you are selected
  4. Start your Fulbright U.S. Scholar Online Application
  5. TWU’s Fulbright Program Liaison is available to provide feedback as needed or requested

Fulbright U.S. Scholar application deadlines

  • Fulbright U.S. Scholar Programs Timeline
  • Most Fulbright Scholar applications open in February. Be sure to confirm the opening date for the award you are interested in applying for.
  • Most Fulbright Scholar applications close in mid-September. Be sure to confirm the application deadline for the award you are applying for.

Fulbright Specialist

The Fulbright Specialist Program is a unique opportunity for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in two-week to six-week, project-based exchanges that are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State at host institutions across the globe.
