Nomination Instructions
To nominate a graduate student for the Graduate Council Award for Exceptional, Original Scholarship, please follow the instructions below and submit all required materials with attachments.
Nominees should demonstrate outstanding excellence in their scholarship. This award will only be granted if there are qualified recipients, with a maximum of three graduate students selected. The Graduate Council’s Research Committee will make the final selections.
Award recipients will receive a cash prize and be recognized at the annual Student Creative Arts and Research Symposium in April.
Nomination Submission
- Deadline: 5:00 p.m. on March 7, 2025
- Submission: The nominating faculty should submit the nomination material as one combined PDF document to dcantu5@twu.edu.

Application Criteria
- Eligibility:
- Nominees must be Master’s or Doctoral level students.
- Students must be enrolled in the Spring semester of the nomination year.
- Students who have previously received this award are not eligible.
Application Requirements

Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- The student must submit a vita in the University format to document their scholarly activity.

Evidence of Exceptional Scholarship
- The student must provide supporting materials that demonstrate exceptional scholarship.
- Only activities affiliated with Texas Woman’s University will be considered.

Student Narrative
- The student must write a narrative explaining the originality and significance of their contribution to the field.
- This should include relevant examples from their CV and an explanation of any collaborative work.
- The narrative must be:
- No longer than two pages
- Double-spaced
- Written in 11- or 12-point font with one-inch margins

Letters of Support
- The application must include letters from:
- The student’s faculty sponsor/advisor
- At least one member of the student’s advisory committee.
- A maximum of three letters of support may be submitted.
- The faculty advisor should provide a narrative explaining:
- The significance of the student’s scholarship within their field
- The student’s primary contributions to the activity
- Each letter must be:
- No longer than two pages
- Double-spaced
- Written in 11- or 12-point font with one-inch margins
- The application must include letters from:
