Family Weekend

October 10-12, 2025

Family Weekend is the first big event for students and their families of the year! It will be a weekend full of fun, food and tradition!

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to interact with the University’s faculty and staff, take a day to explore the city of Denton, or cheer on one of our outstanding TWU Pioneer teams! Regardless of what you choose to do during your time at Family Weekend, we hope that you will carve out time to reconnect with your student and find out what TWU means to them.

We look forward to seeing everyone! Keep in mind that if you did not register by the deadline, there will be no on-site registration. However, you are still able to attend the FREE events--like open houses, visiting the Library, and watchingTWU's talent show on Saturday evening! And if you want to attend the Athletics games, students may use their all-sports pass, good for the student and one family member for every Pioneer home game!

Family Weekend Schedule

Friday, October 10

Time	Event
6 a.m.-10 p.m.	Fitness & Recreation Open Fitness & Recreation Center Enjoy a cardio or weight workout while you are visiting for the weekend. Free admission with your Family Weekend wristband (ages 18+).
9 a.m.-5 p.m.	TWU Bookstore Open Brackenridge Hall, 1st Floor Grab some Pioneer gear for your family at the TWU Bookstore.
7 a.m.-10 p.m.	Blagg-Huey Library Open Blagg-Huey Library Check out all the library has to offer! Explore our cookbook collection, the Clarabel Tanner Collection of Children’s Book Art, the Lou Halsell Rodenberger Woman’s Collection and more, including our special exhibit Portraying Chronic Illness in Aging Adults!
3-5 pm.	Center for First-Generation Students Open House Student Union at Hubbard Hall, Suite 1600 (#30 on map) Drop by this come-and-go event and meet the TWU staff who work in the Center for First-Generation Students. If your student is first-gen, this is THE place where they can find help, resources and a friendly face.
3-5 p.m.	Career Connections Open House Brackenridge Hall, First Floor Stop by and check out the options available to your student and meet the career counselors who will happily any questions you or your student may have!
3-6 p.m.	Sue S. Bancroft Women’s Leadership Hall *Old Main, 2nd Floor* Tour the gallery and discover the remarkable women who shaped Texas history and explore the stories of those who continue to open doors for women’s leadership and civic participation.
3-7p.m.	Check-In Student Union at Hubbard Hall, Mezzanine, 2nd Floor THERE IS NO ON-SITE/LATE REGISTRATION. Feel free to check out the campus and enjoy the day!
3:30-4:30 p.m.	Military and Veteran Family Reception Blagg-Huey Library, Special Collections, 2nd floor Celebrate Military and Veteran Families with us! This special reception honors the service of our students and their loved ones, offering an opportunity to connect, share, and enjoy light refreshments together.
4:30-6 p.m.	Vice President for Student Life Family Weekend Reception Student Union at Hubbard Hall, Southeast Ballroom, 2nd Floor Join us for a warm and welcoming reception during Family Weekend! Enjoy light refreshments, meet fellow families, and connect with faculty, staff, and students as we celebrate our campus community.
6 p.m.	TWU Volleyball Game Pioneer Hall Kitty Magee Arena Cheer on our Pioneers as they take on Sul Ross. Free with Family Weekend wristband. Sponsored by TWU Athletics
7-9 p.m.	Pop Into Family Feud Student Union at Hubbard Hall, Southwest Ballroom Get your team of family/friends ready for a fun battle during TWU’s Family Weekend! Enjoy a fun night of pop culture trivia and popcorn! Sponsored by Student Union Programming and the Center for Student Involvement.

Saturday, October 11

11 a.m.-1 p.m.	Barbeque Tailgate Student Union at Hubbard Hall Southwest Ballroom Join us pre-game for an epic good time as we enjoy a family barbeque, dancers and mariachis.
2 p.m.	TWU Volleyball Game Kitty Magee Arena Cheer on our Pioneers as they take on Western New Mexico. Free with Family Weekend wristband. Sponsored by TWU Athletics
6-8 p.m.	TWU’s Got Talent Amphitheater Get ready for a night of unforgettable performances at the Pioneer Talent Show 2025! This exciting event showcases the incredible skills and creativity of our students!
7 p.m.	TWU Soccer Game Pioneer Soccer Park Cheer on our Pioneers as they take on Texas A&M International and promote Breast Cancer Awareness at this pink-out game. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink! Free with Family Weekend wristband.
Various	31 Days of Denton Halloween For all 31 days of October, Denton has pulled together an exciting lineup of activities. Grab some themed food and drinks, or just stroll around and take in the spooky vibes. Check out dentonhalloween.com for all of the options.

Sunday, October 12

9-9:45 a.m.	Morning Yoga TWU Gardens in front of Fit & Rec Join us for gentle morning yoga and ease into the perfect way to wake up the mind and body. This practice will be accessible for everyone, so feel free to come even if you’re a novice. Mats will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing.
10-11 a.m.	Weekend Chapel Service Greenhouse Patio Take a moment to reflect in a non-denominational time of fellowship and community with your student. Lead by TWU’s own Shannon Taylor, Ed.D.

11 a.m.-1 p.m.	Brunch TWU Dining Hall Wrap up Family Weekend on campus with the perfect Sunday Brunch in the Dining Hall! Cost for Brunch is separate from registration and is $10.11 (+ tax) per person.
