Biography
Karen Dunlap, Ed.D. is a Professor of Teacher Education in the College of Professional Education at Texas Woman's University (TWU) in Denton, Texas. Prior to joining TWU, Dr. Dunlap served two other higher education institutions, the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of North Texas; and a variety of school districts during her 25+ years in public schools as either a teacher or administrator. Her research and writing are focused on the development of 21st century teacher leaders, integration of instructional practice and appropriate pedagogically sound web-based tools/technology, and pre-service to inservice teacher identity development. She strives to engage preservice teachers in authentic activities that translate easily to the public school arena. Dr. Dunlap challenges students to keep an open mind and reflect as they examine perceptions of schools, teacher roles, and learners through a variety of lenses.
