Biography
Dr. Gina Anderson is the Associate Dean for Educator Preparation & Partnerships in the College of Professional Education at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She has served educational settings for more than 30 years in a number of roles, including elementary and middle school teacher, student teacher supervisor, university professor, program coordinator, and department chair. Dr. Anderson has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in curriculum, instruction, educational foundations, and diversity. Her early research focused on multicultural and discussion pedagogies, and she currently is investigating issues of recruitment, preparation, and retention of teacher candidates. Dr. Anderson directs TWU’s PULSE Scholars Program, a mentoring program for students pursuing doctoral degrees for careers in higher education, leadership, research, policy, or advocacy. Anderson is a founding member of the Texas Coalition for Educator Preparation and widely participates in advocacy efforts at the state and national levels. She serves on many local and national governing or advisory boards, councils, and committees for organizations such as the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Consortium of State Organizations of Texas Teacher Education, Association for Advancing Quality of Educator Preparation, and Rotary Club International. Anderson's honors and awards include the Academic Exchange Quarterly Journal Editor's Choice Award, TWU College of Professional Education Outstanding Teacher Award, TWU College of Professional Education Outstanding Faculty Award for Academic Mentor/Advisor, Dr. G. Ann Uhlir Fellowship in Higher Education Administration, TWU Academic Affairs Faculty Fellowship, TWU Innovation in Academia Award, and the Denton Rotary Club President’s Award. Dr. Anderson enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends when she is not working.
