Biography

I have been a nurse for 31 years. I have worked mainly in the critical care setting (CCU, SICU, MICU, Cardiac Cath lab,PACU, and Telemetry). I returned to graduate school after five years of nursing experience and completed a MSN degree in 2000, with a Clinical Nurse Specialist track in Acute Care nursing. I continued working in critical care settings as a CNS and after 6 years I moved into an administrative role in the patient safety and quality improvement area. I returned to school in September of 2010 entering a doctoral program and graduated May 2013 with my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. After graduating from the DNP program I decided to pursue a career in academia at Texas Woman's University. I really enjoy teaching and feel truly blessed to be at TWU with such a wonderful group of nursing faculty. On a professional service note, I was elected in the spring of 2022 to the board of directors for the American Association for Men in Nursing and started my 2 year term in October of 2022. In November of 2023, I was asked by the President of AAMN to step into the Secretary role on the board of directors for AAMN and accepted this role, starting a 2 year term as secretary thgough October 2025.
