Biography
Dr. Brenda Ross Swilley has over 32 years of nursing experience specializing in occupational and environmental health and public health nursing. In 2020, she retired with 20 years of service in the United States Public Health Service at the Rank of Captain (O6). As a Public Health Nurse Executive, Dr. Ross Swilley provided strategic leadership and oversight of health programs, policies, and initiatives to ensure the well-being of the federal employee population while fostering health equality and workplace compliance standards.
As an Assistant Professor, Dr. Ross Swilley has conducted research related to smoking cessation within the federal employee population, shedding light on this important issue and informing the public health discourse. Her current research program focuses on vaping prevention among teens in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP).
She has published and presented her research findings throughout the United States. Dr. Ross Swilley is an active member of several professional nursing organizations and has served on many national committees.
