Biography

Dr. LaTasha Burns is an experienced registered nurse, educator, and leader offering over thirty years of progressive experience in delivering services that are high quality and safe. Academically, she enjoys precepting and mentoring nursing students, lecturing using active learning principles, and curriculum design. She is passionate about nursing education and firmly believes that it is a pivotal part of the nursing profession. She has a significant clinical knowledge base that includes proficiency in safety culture building, regulatory/accreditation compliance, quality improvement principles and promotion of exceptional patient care experiences. Dr. Burns has worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community healthcare facilities and is well-versed in a plethora of clinical nursing specialties: medical/surgical, oncology, women’s health, and diagnostic imaging, all areas for which she is comfortable teaching. She has a zeal for teaching concepts of nursing leadership, administration and management while providing students with real-world examples of how to apply their classroom learning to actual patient care situations and settings. Dr. Burns is proud to use her talents to teach and prepare future nurses and healthcare leaders.
