Biography
Dr. Angeles Nava is an Associate Professor at Texas Woman’s University Nelda C. Stark College of Nursing in Houston and is currently teaching in the Undergraduate program. She teaches and is course manager for the Community Health Competencies course. She has served as the lead faculty for the Introduction to Research course. Dr. Nava developed the Hispanic Immersion Experience Elective class in which she is also cross-campus teaching. Her research interest is in intimate partner violence with a focus on Hispanic/Latina immigrant women. She has participated in quantitative and qualitative research on intimate partner violence, economic solvency, and long term support groups for abused women. She obtained a Bachelor’s, Master’s and a Doctoral degree in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University.
Dr. Nava is serving as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Health Care Nursing Education Foundation. She is also involved with Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, Beta Beta Chapter-Houston, as a Senior Counselor. Dr. Nava is a member of the Center for Global Nursing. She has served as support nursing faculty for the abroad study in Peru. Recently, she participated in the TIEC and The Stevens Initiative Virtual Exchange Program for Nursing in Egypt, Jordan, and Texas. Dr. Nava is bilingual in Spanish/English.
