Biography
Ms. Sears Leach , licensed speech language pathologist (SLP), is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Supervisor at Texas Woman's University. She has taught Preschool Language Disorders, School Age Language Disorders, Fluency, and Professional Practices for the SLP-A, and the graduate course of neurological bases of communication and supervised in the TWU speech and hearing clinic. She has practiced as an SLP since 1998 and worked in varied settings including public school, private practice, rehabilitation hospital, home health, and early childhood intervention. She has worked as an education specialist in the areas of SLP, augmentative communication, early childhood, and autism for an education service center where she leads workshops and presentations for professionals and educators. Ms. Sears Leach has experience with all age ranges of children and adults. She is a past vice president of education and scientific affairs for Texas Speech Language Hearing Association (TSHA) and is the secretary for Mane to Tail Therapy of Texas, a non-profit hippotherapy company. She is a member of TSHA and the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She has particular professional research interests in combining hippotherapy with AAC, the double empathy theory, and autism in girls.
