Biography
Michelle Nishida, M.S. CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist with more than 17 years of clinical experience with both pediatric and adult clients. She received her B.A. in Linguistics in 2003 and and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology in 2005 from Brigham Young University and has since worked in a variety of clinical settings including private practice, public schools, home health, early childhood intervention, hospital acute care, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. She is currently a visiting assistant professor in the department of Communication Sciences and Oral Health at Texas Woman’s University, teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses and supervising at the TWU Speech and Hearing Clinic.
Her research interests include neurodevelopmental disorders, neurocognitive disorders (attention, memory, executive functioning, problem solving), neurorehabilitation, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She is currently working on projects exploring the effects of noninvasive brain stimulation on social cognition in ASD. Other research interests include using video modeling to teach communication skills, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
