Biography

My research focuses on diabetes. One of my career goals is to better help people with or at risk for diabetes. My research skills and experience include basic science (cell culture, tissue isolation, histology, and animal study) and clinical research (experimental, exploratory, and observational). In 2020, I received Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Research Award by the Texas Tech University System. Before I joined TWU, I was a PT faculty member at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. I served on the Board of San Angelo Diabetes Coalition from 2018 to 2023. Currently, I am a member of the Professional Practice Committee in the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) in the US. In the clinic, I enjoy helping people particularly those who have diabetes and need help with physical movement or exercise for diabetes self-management. I am interested in mentoring students, working with clinicians in different disciplines, and collaborating with any researchers who also have passion in helping people with or at risk for diabetes to improve their well-being and quality of life.
