Biography
I am an associate professor in the School of Physical Therapy at TWU – Houston. I am a residency-trained, board-certified clinical specialist in sports and orthopaedic physical therapy and practice clinically with MemorialHermann Rockets Sports Medicine Institute. My teaching responsibilities include Primary Care in Physical Therapy, Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy: Lower Quadrant and Upper Quadrant courses. My clinical practice focuses on upper extremity dysfunction in overhead athletes, directly influencing my research line and teaching interests. My research examines how physical development, gender and sport participation ultimately impact injury risk and athletic performance across the lifespan. I seek to provide novel insights into the intersectionality of age, gender and sport, particularly in overhead athlete populations. I disseminate my research findings through peer-reviewed publications and frequent presentations at national and international conferences. As graduate faculty, I mentor DPT and PhD students as well collaborate with researchers across several institutions. I am active in multiple professional organizations and serve on several university and school level committees including Graduate Council, the Institutional Review Board – Houston Campus and the DPT Student Success Committee.
