Biography
Mijin Kim's research is dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing while reducing health disparities in immigrant and Asian American communities. Her work centers on applying attachment theory to research and clinical practice, with a particular emphasis on the psychological processes of immigration, acculturation, and emotion regulation. Committed to decolonizing psychology, Kim advocates for historically marginalized communities, aiming to address health disparities and promote healing from historical trauma. Through her research, teaching, and community engagement, she strives to foster social justice, enhance the effectiveness of mental health interventions, and broaden multicultural and international perspectives in counseling psychology.
