State educators’ group selects COPE dean for top award
Oct. 18, 2021 – DENTON – The Texas Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (TACTE) recognized Lisa Huffman, PhD, dean of the Texas Woman’s University College of Professional Education, with the TACTE Leadership Award during the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE) annual meeting Oct. 10.
"I am humbled to have received this award,” Huffman said. “It is an honor to be recognized by education deans and leaders from across the great state of Texas. I’m so thankful for all of my educator preparation colleagues in the state."
The award recognizes outstanding leadership in the organization and significant contributions to the educator preparation process in Texas.
Huffman completed her term as TACTE president at the annual meeting. In her time as president, she took an active role in leading across the state. Huffman arranged statewide meetings of higher education teacher preparation programs throughout the COVID pandemic that regularly counted more than 100 deans, directors and faculty in attendance from public and private universities across Texas.
Now serving as past-president for TACTE, Huffman also was appointed as the Region V board member of the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities (TECSCU). In that role, she will represent Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.
