Dr. Thomas provides pro-bono services to the international service organization, Hearts in Motion, bringing students for hand- and hearts-on learning experiences, and is a current APTA representative.

Claudette Fette, PhD, OTR, CRC

Service Award Recipient: 2022
Dr. Claudette Fette provided direct service and consultation to the Denton Community Health Clinic and Denton County MHMR. She organized volunteers to develop trauma training with OT students and faculty at a Dallas shelter to appraise the needs and advocated for activities for at risk youth.

Dr. Kathleen Davis was the Co-Lead for Eat Well to help build the Health and Wellbeing Initiative, and worked with the library to develop Health and Wellbeing book collection for the library. She advocated for students nutritional education and food security.
Carolyn Moore, PhD, RDN, LD

Service Award Recipient: 2019
Dr. Carolyn Moore collaborated with the Houston Food Bank (with Deb Unruh, Houston Student Life Director) to receive food twice a month for food insecure students. Dr. Moore served the community on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.
Tina Fletcher, EdD, MFA, OTR
School of Occupational Therapy
Service Award Recipient: 2018
Dr. Tina Fletcher directly served, and modeled for students, serving families and children with autism at the attendance of many local community venues such as the Dallas Museum of Art and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. She created and installed multisensory environment which has become a demonstration room for community partners at the Dallas Arboretum and Nasher Sculpture Center.
Rupal Patel, PT, PhD
School of Physical Therapy
Service Award Recipient: 2017
Dr. Rupal Patel led students to Washington D.C annually for the Federal Affairs Forum to advocate for issues relayed to patient access, student debt and Medicaid Services. She served as a Texas delegate to the House of Delegates for the American Physical Therapy Association.
Sarah Wainscott, PhD, CCC-A, CED

Service Award Recipient: 2016
Dr. Sarah Wainscott served on the board of Texas Hands and Voices that provides family advocacy, training, resources and parent to parent support for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. She presented workshops for families at Family Weekend Retreat hosted by Texas School for Deaf.
Kimberly Parker, PhD

Dr. Kim Parker leveraged her research in reducing HIV/AIDS among African American women for the Lend Us Your Voice project, which increased knowledge and awareness about HIV/AIDS among African American women while reducing stigma through creative arts to improve awareness in the Denton Area.
Nancy DiMarco, PhD, RD/LD

Dr. Nancy DiMarco has served in her community and university through dozens of committees. She founded the Institute for Women’s Health and engaged faculty and students in critical scholarship and learning.

Bettye Myers, PhD

Dr. Bettye Myers was the founding president of Faculty Senate and a leader in the TWU Alumnae Association. In 2016, upon her retirement, the TWU Butterfly Garden was dedicated to her because of the “indelible mark [left] on peoples hearts.”
