As a part of the Texas Woman’s University’s program for equal opportunity, the policy statement on nondiscrimination is as follows.

In compliance with the Equal Pay Act of 1963, as amended; Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended; the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, as amended; Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended; the Vietnam Era Veteran’s Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974; the Civil Rights Act of 1991, as amended; the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988; Equal Rights under the Law, 42 U.S.C. §1981; State of Texas Anti-Discrimination Laws, and federal, state and local human rights, fair employment and other laws; the University does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, age, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national or ethnic origin, veteran's status, genetic information or against qualified individuals with disabilities.

This Statement forms a baseline from which the TWU community works to assure fairness and equity to all who pursue their educational and professional goals at this University. Retaliation against individuals who in good faith, file a claim of discrimination or otherwise oppose discriminatory actions or practices will not be tolerated.

Q: How can I report a discriminatory incident or potential Title VI violation?

A: You can report in person at Old Main 108, on the phone at 940-898-2969 or online. Please click report an incident and you will have the opportunity to share your experience.

Q: What will TWU do when a report is filed?

A: The Office of Civility and Community Standards will investigate the allegations and gather information from all constituencies including but not limited to Student Housing, TWU Police, reporting parties, responding parties and potential witnesses to determine best next steps which may include a student conduct hearing.  If a hearing takes place a determination will be made and the responding party(ies) has the ability to appeal.  Once the adjudication process has been exhausted the decision is final and sanctions may be assigned ranging from Disciplinary Warning to Expulsion from the University.

Q: What if someone retaliates or responds in a retaliatory manner to me reporting?

A: Retaliation is strictly prohibited. All persons, including University students, faculty and staff, are prohibited from taking any retaliatory action against any other member of the University Community including, but not limited to, the Reporting party(ies) [Complainant(s)], Responding party(ies) [Respondent(s)] or Witnesses to an alleged discrimination.

Any student engaging in any retaliatory action(s) will be subject to discipline under the Student Conduct Code and appropriate sanctions for determined violations may include dismissal from the University.

Any student who believes that they have been retaliated against for having filed, or being named in, a complaint for a hate crime or bias-motivated incident or having participated in the investigation of such a complaint, should promptly notify TWU Police at 940-898-2911 or the Office of Civility and Community Standards at 940-898-2968.
