National rankings for Texas Woman's
Dear TWU colleagues, friends, and students,
I want to take a moment today to thank you for what you do—and for making Texas Woman’s an exceptional university. You have helped accelerate our upward trajectory and recognition as a university on the move. So why today and what is motivating me to send you this message? Let me explain.
A week or so ago, Forbes published its Top 500, and The Wall Street Journal published its 2025 Best Colleges in the U.S. Rankings are nothing new, but what made these stand out was how they focused on students rather than on name recognition, endowments, or research expenditures, as many other rankings do. The WSJ looked at student earnings after graduation, student debt, the time it would take a student to pay off student loans, and the student experience on campus (based on interviews).
When I saw where they ranked Texas Woman’s, I felt proud and validated in our excellence. The Wall Street Journal ranked us well above many other prestigious institutions, including several well-known private institutions (e.g., SMU, TCU, Baylor). It ranked us #2 in the DFW metroplex only behind UT Arlington—well above UNT, UT Dallas, SMU, and the University of Dallas. Yes, you read this correctly!
In Texas, WSJ ranked us third for ‘best value’ and fifth among public universities. Overall, we jumped from #28 in Texas two years ago to #8 today!! That is a significant jump, and it is all due to YOU.
Today, I used these references when testifying in front of the Legislative Budget Board, and I felt so proud of your contributions. You make my job so easy selling the Texas Legislature on the value Texas Woman’s adds to the state, and why they should keep investing in our mission.
It is you who make our story so compelling. It is in your dedication as faculty to your discipline and to teaching and learning. It is in your commitment as staff to student success. And, it is in your journey as Texas Woman’s Pioneers to boldly go. You are simply the best, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do to build up our Texas Woman’s community. Congratulations!!
With a pioneering spirit,
Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
