Happy Thanksgiving!!!

GIVING THANKS/RECEIVING THANKS

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

This is that special day when we take the time to appreciate the blessings life has bestowed upon us, and gather with friends, family and loved ones to share that sentiment. It is a wonderful day because there is only the joy of preparing ‘the fixins’ for the Thanksgiving table, leaving the gift-list shopping for another time.

But the gesture of giving thanks to others means someone is receiving thanks. We all at some time or another, receive a meaningful “thank you.” Who has not heard the admonition, “it is better to give thanks than to receive thanks.” Most of us grew up hearing that advice—but it is often difficult for us to receive a thank-you acknowledgment and not deflect the praise.

I send a hearty and grateful “THANK YOU” to everyone who has worked so hard to help Texas Woman’s University achieve the status it has. When I receive a “thank you” from so many on the outside who have such a high regard for us, I receive it with great pride knowing you are the reason for such praise. Don’t deflect it because you have earned it!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

With a pioneering spirit,

Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
