Happy trails to Dr. Kimberly Russell

Dear Texas Woman’s Colleagues,

Dr. Kimberly Russell, vice president of University Advancement, has accepted the position of Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. Her final day at Texas Woman’s will be August 10, 2023, after our quarterly board meeting.

Kim is a two-time alumna of the University of North Texas, and her daughter is a fourth-year medical student at the Health Science Center. She said, “It’s not easy to say goodbye to my colleagues at Texas Woman’s who have become my trusted advisors and friends for the past 4.5 years. This opportunity came along unexpectedly, and it feels like I’m going home.”

During Dr. Russell’s time here, the University Advancement team improved processes, adopted new technologies, provided consistent and reliable donor stewardship, expanded our donor base, achieved incredible fundraising results year over year, and helped usher in the largest gift in university history. They have also built stronger relationships with alums and continue to expand the university’s engagement and outreach efforts. Kim has helped develop a culture of philanthropy at Texas Woman’s. I am grateful for her leadership and the memories we have made.

I have asked Lisa Rampy to serve as interim vice president for University Advancement and Shelby Gould to lead the TWU Foundation as interim executive director while continuing as assistant vice president for advancement operations. Collectively, the two bring over 40 years of advancement experience in higher education from various Texas colleges and universities. I am confident they will continue to build on the success Kim has pioneered!

While change can be bittersweet, I know that University Advancement’s future is in capable hands, and the team will continue to thrive. Please join me on Friday, August 4 between 2:30 and 4:00p at University Advancement to wish Kim happy trails and success in her future endeavors.

With a pioneering spirit,

Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
