Feedback and interest survey on our next strategic plan
Dear Colleagues,
On the recommendation of Alli Peterson, associate director in Teaching and Learning with Technology, I am writing to build a pool of faculty and staff who want to self-identify as willing and able to hammer out the details of our next strategic plan. Even if you cannot serve on a leadership team, Lisa Marie Valle, executive assistant to the vice president in Student Life, suggested that many still want to contribute and engage. I invite everyone to complete my interest survey by the end of February. I will compile your feedback to share with the appropriate teams.
Over the past two months, I have met with regents, cabinet, deans, vice provosts, TWU Faculty Senate, Council of Chairs, and TWU Staff Council to gather initial feedback on the framing of our next strategic plan.
At this point, we have four (4) imperatives — the big things we must do.
- Double the number of STEM opportunities
- Leverage the power of our systemness to serve our communities better
- Amplify the social impact aspects of our mission and brand
- Put student prosperity at the heart of all we do
In addition to these four imperatives, we have identified five (5) initiatives from the previous strategic plan that warrant a carryover to this next plan.
- A people, processes and culture initiative;
- A research initiative;
- A partnerships initiative;
- A child development and childcare initiative; and
- An international-focused initiative.
I have offered greater detail about the imperatives and initiatives on the interest survey.
In talking with many of you about the next strategic plan, I am excited about our foci in the years ahead. The design of this plan will have ample space for the ideas and efforts of individuals, departments, colleges, and divisions. With all of our arrows pointing in more or less the same direction, our imagination is the only limit to how far we can go.
With a pioneering spirit,
Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
