Announcing the vice president for marketing and communication
Dear Texas Woman’s Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Kristina Kaskel-Ruiz will serve as Vice President for Marketing and Communication beginning July 1. I am excited for her to lead us in leveraging our university brand across colleges, campuses, and divisions.
Kris has most recently served as associate vice president for marketing and communications at Sam Houston State University since 2010. She has extensive experience across multiple industries—leading through crises, unifying messaging, building value-focused teams, and championing diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also has a deep understanding of the Houston market, which is key as we expand our vision for the Texas Woman's University System. The president at Sam Houston State described Kris as a high-energy innovator, relationship-builder, and strategic thinker.
I am grateful for the efforts of the search committee. The members had a breadth of perspectives. They engaged deeply with their expertise and were committed to the process. I have enjoyed working with each person.
Finally, I am most grateful for Deanna Wheaton-Titzler, who has served as interim leader of the marketing and communication team since last July. She has expertly kept all the trains running on time while also managing the work of her previous role, which she can now return to fully in July. Many of us have been stretched thin during this pandemic, and Deanna more so than most. Yet, she managed it all with excellence. For that, I am both in awe and full of gratitude.
Texas Woman’s is an incredible, dynamic place to work, and we do it together for something bigger than any of us—and we have fun along the way. Thank you all for giving so much as we lean into our extraordinary purpose. We will stay true to our mission and boldly go!
With a pioneering spirit,
Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
