We are the Texas Woman’s University System

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the Texas Woman’s University System! Today is an inflection point in the arc of history for this institution. It is neither the first nor last significant milestone on our journey, but it is momentous.Texas Legislature Online Bill Stages, Bill: SB 1126Stage 7: Bill becomes law. This legislative action happened on our watch, but it is bigger than any of us. The Texas Woman’s University story spans 120 years. Our vision for this moment was made possible by standing on the shoulders of giants who came before us: giants in the faculty, giants among our alumni, giants in the staff and prior administrations, and giants in the community championing the value of a distinctive institution like Texas Woman’s.

In reflecting on the collective momentum that has made today possible, I am truly humbled. But I am also inspired by the evidence of our commitment to “…transformational learning, discovery, and service in an inclusive environment that embraces diversity, …[and that] inspires excellence and a pioneering spirit.”

Let us take a moment to revel in the work and progress that has brought us here today. Texas Woman’s University System is because Texas is and the people of this state are. Today, we begin a new chapter in our story while we continue our historic mission.

With a pioneering spirit,

Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
