Marking five years as the Texas Woman’s University System
Dear Texas Woman’s Community,
As we return from Memorial Day weekend, I hope you found time for rest and reflection. I am especially mindful of the service members whose courage and sacrifice we honor, and of the freedoms and opportunities their service helps preserve.
Today marks another meaningful moment for Texas Woman’s. Five years ago, Gov. Greg Abbott signed the bill establishing the Texas Woman’s University System, creating a structure that has helped us grow in impact, reach, and ambition.
In only five years, we have established presidents for TWU Dallas and TWU Houston, completed strategic plans for both campuses, expanded our academic portfolio with new programs in nursing, physical therapy, aeronautical sciences and more, and embedded systemness as one of the defining imperatives in Momentum: Strategic Plan 2028.
That progress is all the more meaningful as we celebrate our 125th anniversary year. While we should never rest on our laurels, milestones like this invite a brief pause to recognize the monumental effort it takes to live into our mission as the nation’s first and largest public woman-focused university system.
I am grateful for all that each of you pours into this mission. I see its power in our alumni, whose stories of success and service are strengthening communities across Texas and beyond.
Happy anniversary to the Texas Woman’s University System — and to all of you who make Texas Woman’s what it is. We are Texas Woman’s, and together we are shaping what comes next.
With a pioneering spirit,
Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
