Announcing our new general counsel

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce the latest addition to the Texas Woman’s leadership team, Supawon (Wonny) Lervisit, J.D., as general counsel.

Wonny joined Texas Woman’s in 2023 as an assistant general counsel. We promoted her to associate general counsel in 2024 while she worked with many of you on our implementation of several state laws. She quickly developed a strong understanding of the laws and regulations affecting public universities in Texas and has served as a trusted legal advisor to many across the facets of Texas Woman’s University System. Last year, she stepped up to serve as interim general counsel. Her portfolio includes governance, contract review, student affairs, employment issues, public information, litigation management, and policy drafting and analysis.

Prior to joining Texas Woman’s, Wonny was an attorney at Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, where her practice focused on advising nonprofit and tax-exempt clients on governance and transactional matters, civil rights law and policy, strategic impact litigation, and community development. She previously worked at a national law firm on employment and civil rights matters.

She is originally from Dallas but spent several years in the Northeast before returning to Texas to raise her family. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science. She earned her law degree from Harvard Law School.

I want to thank Dr. Monica Mendez-Grant and the committee she led as they worked diligently and quickly to filling this open position.

Please join me in welcoming Wonny Lervisit as our new general counsel.

With a pioneering spirit,

Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
