A small gift of time as we close the year

Dear Colleagues,

As we come to the close of another remarkable year at Texas Woman’s University, I want to pause and say thank you—for your dedication, your creativity, and your commitment to our students and to one another.

This year, your work moved TWU forward in meaningful and lasting ways. That progress is visible in the care our teams bring to our campuses every day, including our grounds crew, which the Professional Grounds Management Society recognized again in October at its annual Green Star Awards in Louisville, Kentucky. It is also reflected in the milestones we have achieved together, from our Carnegie R2 research designation and recognition as a Carnegie residential campus to our continued national rankings from The Wall Street Journal and Forbes. None of this happens by chance; it reflects the pride, professionalism, and attention to detail that define the daily work across our university system.

In the spirit of gratitude and as a small way of saying thank you, I am pleased to share that the university system will close on Tuesday, December 23, beginning at noon, so that you may enjoy a little extra time with family and friends during the holiday season.

I am especially grateful to our essential personnel in facilities management, public safety, and other areas who will continue working while the rest of us take a holiday, to keep our campuses safe, secure, and operating smoothly. Your service makes this time possible for others, and we are deeply thankful.

This season invites reflection, generosity, and renewal. I hope this small gift of extra time allows you to rest, reconnect, and enter the new year refreshed and proud of all we have accomplished together.

With warm wishes and a pioneering spirit,

Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor and President
