Jill Dutton
Jill Dutton is a former Texas State Representative who was elected in 2024, in a special election, to serve the constituents of Texas House District 2 encompassing Hopkins, Hunt, and Van Zandt counties. Rep. Dutton served on the House Defense & Veterans Affairs Committee and the County Affairs Committee and is extremely proud to be the first woman elected to serve HD2. As a House member, she was successful in obtaining a $25MM request for short line rail funding in the 2025 Legislative Budget, positively impacting the entire Northeast Texas region.
Rep. Dutton has been active in the Republican political arena for over 25 years. She has served as Secretary of the Van Zandt County Republican Executive Committee, Precinct Chair, delegate to four Republican Party of Texas conventions, and twice served as Chair of the Congressional District 5 Caucus. In 2021, she founded the Republican Women of Van Zandt, a Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW) club in her home county of Van Zandt. Rep. Dutton is Director of Administration for CA Partners, Inc., a commercial construction consulting firm that she co-founded with her husband David and business partners. She also serves as an invited member of the Construction Industry Advisory Council at Texas A&M University.
As a local community leader, Rep. Dutton is committed to a quality education for every Texas student. Having attended both public and private school and as a former public-school board trustee, she has a uniquely qualified perspective on Texas education. Believing in an all-hands-on deck approach, she is a supporter of school choice legislation. In public education, she is a strong advocate for teacher pay raises, increase in public school funding, eliminating unfunded mandates, and advocates to abolish the punitive standardized test called STAAR.
Rep. Dutton is proud to be a descendant of Lebanese immigrants as her paternal great-grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Lebanon in the late 1800s and put down roots in Greenville, Texas. A strong conservative, Rep. Dutton advocates for unity, party growth, and increasing voter awareness of key conservative issues.
