Center to offer free small business advising in Rio Grande Valley
Jan. 30, 2024 ― DENTON ― Women entrepreneurs in the Rio Grande Valley can soon give their businesses a boost, thanks to a free program offered by the Center for Women Entrepreneurs (CWE).
The CWE is offering free business advising, networking, training and funding to women-owned businesses throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Onsite advising begins Feb. 20 and virtual advising appointments are available now. Register here.
The CWE, a program of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership, maintains an outreach location at the Center for Education and Economic Development (CEED) in Mission. The CEED is also home to the local TWU Admission’s Office.
As part of its outreach plan, the CWE will host “Women-Owned Wednesdays” beginning in March to provide educational programming to the entrepreneur community.
“We are thrilled to join the CEED and work with women entrepreneurs and local partners to grow small business and economic development in the community,” said Tracy Irby, the CWE director. “Whether in ideation, expansion or exit, women-owned businesses can find the support they need to operate their business with the resources available through our center.”
The program kickoff coincides with the national celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, which is March 8.
In addition to advising and training, the CWE offers three grant programs annually for women business owners: The Veteran Woman Grant, Texas Rural Women Grant, and the StartHer Grant.
The CEED is located at 801 Bryan Road in Mission. Visitors to the center can learn more about educational and entrepreneurial programs. For more information and to learn more about the CWE, visit the TWU CWE website: https://twu.edu/center-women-entrepreneurs/
The Jane Nelson institute is dedicated to preparing more women to take on successful roles in business and public service. Its three specialized centers ensure women have the education to establish careers as successful executives, the skills for building entrepreneurial businesses, and the framework needed to run for public office.
