Center to launch program supporting Austin businesswomen

Feb. 4, 2025 — DENTON — An innovative program that aims to boost business for women entrepreneurs has launched in Austin.

The Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership’s Center for Women Entrepreneurs (CWE) at Texas Woman’s University announced the start of its AccelerateHER program in Austin, advancing goals outlined in Mayor Kirk Watson’s Task Force Report for Austin Women Entrepreneurs (Mayor’s Task Force Report) by addressing the critical need for broader and more impactful business networks.

The award-winning CWE provides Texas entrepreneurs free business advising, online training, growth programs, and networking events throughout the state.

“Bringing AccelerateHER to Austin is an exciting step toward fostering a stronger, more connected ecosystem in Texas,” said Tracy Irby, the center’s director. “We are thrilled to support these incredible founders on their journey to growth and success.”

The inaugural Austin AccelerateHER cohort will participate in a comprehensive 15-week program designed to help founders refine their business plans, enhance their networking skills, develop professional pitch decks, and build meaningful connections.

Melinda Garvey, founder of Austin Woman magazine, will facilitate the program, while Neha Sampat, founder of Contentstack, will provide the venue.

“By fostering a stronger network of entrepreneurs, CWE continues its mission to empower Austin-based founders with the tools and connections they need to succeed,” Irby added.
