Yelkur tapped to serve on honor society board
July 18, 2025 – DENTON – Rama Yelkur, executive dean of the Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship, has been appointed to the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Board of Governors.
Yelkur was one of four new board members named to the BGS board, the international business honor society for AACSB-accredited business programs.
Under Yelkur’s leadership, the MAK College received a highly-coveted designation in 2023 with its accreditation from AACSB International —The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), considered the world’s leading association of business schools.
The following year, the MAK College started a BGS chapter and held its first induction ceremony for more than 100 business students and faculty in the spring of 2024. Benefits of the society include educational resources, such as internships and volunteer opportunities, as well as professional development.
In addition to inducting new members every semester, the MAK College also started a BGS student organization in the fall of 2024. The student organization is connected to the chapter, working to help students leverage their BGS membership.
